In this episode of The Power of Your Story Podcast, Girls’ Globe blogger Kalliopi Goulidou speaks to former colleague, Maya Kathrine Andersen. Maya was born and raised in Denmark, where she currently works as a programmer. She shares her story of rediscovering herself as a woman at age 37. She also talks to Kalliopi about feeling unworthy and wanting to hide from the world. For Maya, coming out as transgender has allowed her to live a life of love and to help others – especially other transgender people in Denmark.

“And in the end I know that a story like mine can save a life somewhere else.”

Maya inspires us to see love in the little things in life. She knows that hearing about her journey can have an impact for others. Her generosity in sharing her story is heartwarming.

“Everything we do can be an expression of love for something or someone. And when people sense the love we have, they will honor it and send love back. When you get into that circle of love, anything can happen.”

The Power of Your Story Podcast is an interview series in partnership with with SayItForward.org. It’s a space for women to have honest conversations about overcoming the fears, doubts and limiting beliefs that can stand in the way of self-love and confidence. When we realise that our stories are important, and when we are reminded that we are not alone in our experiences, wonderful things can happen. Through solidarity, encouragement and inspiration, women can support one another’s self-belief.

SayItForward.org is the platform where every woman & girl is encouraged to share her remarkable and unique story. If you feel inspired by Maya, you can share your story in any language today.
