Youth Power: Joan Kembabazi is on a Mission to End Child Marriage

Joan Kembabazi is a young feminist activist and social entrepreneur, who started her journey as a youth activist at the age of 16.

As the founder of Gufasha Girls Foundation, Joan is dedicated to advancing girls’ rights and education. She founded the Foundation in honor of her childhood friend, who died at the age of 13 due to child marriage and early pregnancy. It stands as a tribute to Gufasha’s memory and aims to break the cycle that led to her untimely passing.

“I founded Gufasha Girls Foundation in memory of her so that no more girl suffers and so that girls can find their voice and agency.”
