Latanya Mapp Frett, President and CEO of Global Fund for Women, shares a vital message for young feminist activists around the world. In this conversation with Girls’ Globe’s Shiphrah Belonguel, Latanya encourages young activists to use their voices to create the feminist future we want. Her message can be broken down into 5 main points.
1. Young Activists are Powerful
Latanya highlights the power of young activists, urging them to actively engage and make a difference. “Keep doing what you’re doing!” is what she says and recognizes that young activists are already making a tremendous change in the world.
2. Raise Your Unique Voice
She emphasizes the importance of using your unique voice and ideas, avoiding echoing others. Your voice and your perspectives matter to create the future we want!
3. Trust Your Voice
Young activists are encouraged to trust their voices, knowing that their issues are as important as anyone else’s.
4. Break Societal Barriers
Latanya urges girls to break societal norms that silence them. Girls in all societies face barriers to being heard. We must continue to raise our voices, despite these norms.
5. The Only Way For a Feminist Future
Latanya’s closing message underscores the pivotal role of young activists in shaping a feminist future. The voices, stories and perspectives of young feminist activists, is the only way we will create the feminist future we’re working towards.
